Coaching

I love coaching teachers one-on-one. I love coaching teams.

If you have specific goals or challenges you'd like to address related to storytelling, service learning, global citizenship or sustainability, I can help you.

I have coaching packages ready for you (details below), and I can also tailor a coaching program specific to your needs and timeline. I am here for you as an ideation partner, a planner, a content creator, a curriculum builder, and a cheerleader.

Education leaders have identified one-on-one coaching as the key to professional growth and development in our practice(s) as teachers. Dr. Douglas Reeves, author of 40 books and hundreds of articles about school leadership and student achievement, writes: "A review of the research on practices that lead to learning (Killian, 2019) noted that deliberate practice—practice that is motivated by a compelling desire to improve, requires extra effort, is sustained over a long period of time, and is accompanied by feedback—can result in significant gains in learning for adults and students. This kind of learning simply can't happen in a drive-by workshop or presentation."

He goes on to say that "Teachers and administrators need comprehensive and personalized assessment, training, and continual support. The best way I have seen this delivered is not through one-size-fits-all workshops, but one-to-one coaching support. Every day spent in a workshop that is not tailored to meet the needs of the individual professional is a day that could have been devoted to addressing immediate and specific learning requirements." "We wanted a digital platform to tell about service learning experiences at our school,         St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. The Lavenders were amazing in their ability to meet us where we were at through a 4-week coaching cycle. They helped build up our skills and confidence so we could produce our website and fill the pages with rich service learning and advocacy examples. We would recommend LeeAnne for anyone looking to promote citizen journalism in their schools. She is a content expert and seasoned teacher,
and she cares deeply

& Founder of Global Lighthouse Studios

Coaching Goal: to incorporate service learning into an elective Global Studies course spanning several groups and several months

"LeeAnne is the ultimate coach and global educator wrapped up into one. LeeAnne is working with me and a group of about 150 fifth graders on this first-ever service learning project entitled Compassion 4 Action. This is a unique opportunity as we are working every week with a new group of 5th graders and they are building the unit as a grade level. LeeAnne has taken the time to meet with each one of the six 5th grade classes so she can get to know the students. We are taking a deep dive into the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 and using this as a framework to develop our service learning project. LeeAnne is truly one of a kind and empowers teachers and students to become true global changemakers. I am honored to work with LeeAnne, a passionate, supportive educator who is second to none."

Coaching Goal: to incorporate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals & action research methods into her US History course

"After serving in education for 25 years, working in partnership with LeeAnne Lavender as an instructional coach has by far been one of the best professional development experiences
of my career
. LeeAnne is the epitome of
selfless service and true collaboration!
Her 1:1 coaching sessions are inspiring and provide tangible and authentic ways to integrate service learning in the classroom
that inspire students to engage with
and impact the world around them to effect
real change as global citizens in the
21st century.

LeeAnne is open to exploring ideas “outside of the box” in partnership to find what works best for my specific school culture, my unique student dynamic and my desired instructional outcomes. I often feel like I’m the only client she is working with and can’t believe the time she invests to personalize our sessions and prepare materials particularly for my students.
From our initial brainstorming on how to connect learning outcomes to developing an action plan for implementation to watching student engagement soar, LeeAnne is there to support me every step of the way."
